Game against Kapfenberg Bulls @ Gratkorn

The facts: After surprising defeat at ASKO against ATSE and win at Fürstenfeld, the Scorpions aim to get into the winning path again and secure their options for the playoffs.

First quarter: The game started slow, shy tries from both teams to open up the score. Then the scorpions had a 7-2 run to take the lead closing the quarter. New signed up player, Filip, showed his shooting beyond the arc skills with his first two three pointers. (19-14)

Second quarter: Dule took over on the offensive end of the court. Good options and ball movement to generate good options. However the Bulls would not let it go that easy and keep the difference under 5 during the whole quarter. Final attempt from Kumpi to increase the gap with a 3-pointer buzzer beater, was missed but given free throws after the end of the quarter.(35-30)

Third quarter: Scorpions lost the track of the game in this quarter allowing 23 points in 10 minutes for 30 in the first 20. Game tied with 10 minutes to go. (53-53)

Fourth quarter: Final quarter where the scorpions, showing very good ball distribution and control of the game, took a lead of 7 points (60-53) with a 7-0 run to start the final period. As the game went on great defense in the first seven minutes of the quarter gave a 6 point lead under three minutes to go, the victory looked on the pocket. Nevertheless the management of the advantage was poor and it lead to some final instants of the game where the gap closed to 2 points under one minute to go. Thrilling exchange of possesions and shots in the final intants ended up with the Gratkorners missing two shots to close the game, and allowing free shots to send the game into overtime. Kapfenberg missed the first attempt and Gratkorn secured possesion in the final seconds of the game to get out of the game with the victory.

The Scorpions need to improve the handling of these situations to achieve if they want to defend the current champion title.
